Eye on the Sky

"....there is a slight risk of these storms becoming tornadic..." and so on and so forth, according to the local weather alert about the thunderstorm watch we're under. I'm hanging on to the hope that the word 'slight' is bringing. I'm also wondering if these kinds of weather warnings and watches might just be the norm for this summer. I heard that the storm watchers had been in the local city.   I also heard that hotel rooms in the southern portion of this province have been getting booked up by the storm chasers -the storm chasers that are moving north to this country after having chased the storms in our neighboring country to the south. Do they know something I don't? Strictly rhetorical there...

With all the humidity, and the general feeling of mugginess that assails when stepping outside today, a storm is very possible; likely even probable this evening. So, to prepare, I took the dogs for a walk.  Granted, it was a short walk - in part because the clouds are looking a little ominous, and who wants to be caught out in the middle of the road in the middle of a torrential downpour? and in part because I don't want to have a run-in with a crazed antelope.  My Sweetheart and I had a run-in with a crazed antelope last week when we were out for a nice romantic evening sunset stroll with Bentley, Chico and Lady.  I had just turned my head to look towards the west when I saw him.  No sooner had I seen him than Lady took off after him. My Sweetie and I very quickly grabbed Bentley and leashed him - Chico was already leashed- and then we just watched in horror as the antelope started chasing Lady. Lady did pretty good for an old girl, considering that the antelope is the 2nd fastest animal in the world. They ran west, then south, then across the road, then north right towards us. Fortunately we had a cell phone and made a very quick call to Dear Son, who made a very quick drive towards us. I didn't know it was possible to jump into a truck so fast! That antelope was so mad we could hear him snorting.

Anyway, I did not have a run-in with a crazed antelope today. But the dogs did not get a very long walk either.  As soon as we got back to the yard I let the inside dogs inside, grabbed my camera and headed back outside.

I was going to take a picture of the clouds, but saw the mourning dove on top of the ice house. I didn't realize until after I took the picture that there was another bird flying overhead!

some dark clouds looming...
My favorite bird song is made by this bird...

The kittens don't care that we're under a storm watch..how they were able to sleep in that little lawn ornament bucket is beyond me, but they were sound asleep..

This little kitten was also able to sleep....

I'm in the house now - waiting and wondering.  Will it storm? Will it be bad?  Will it blow over? Only time will tell. But I hope that if it does storm, I will be able to, like the kitties, be at peace. A passage that speaks peace to me is found in Psalm 4:8 - "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone Lord, make me dwell in safety."

I will be keeping my eye on the sky, but I will also be putting my hope and trust in the Lord.
