I had told My Sweetheart, as he was heading to the city with our neigbors who live right across the road, that I did not particularly want to drive to the city if it was going to be stormy. But he went with the neighbors anyway, as they had some farmer stuff to look at. I drove down after school with Dear Daughter and her Dear Friend - who happens to be a member of the family who lives right across the road from us. Mom came too! Tonight was the girls' year end band concert. And while I was driving to the city with a car full of females, we were watching the sky, and I was really wishing My Sweetheart would have been in the car with me. I really don't like the look of the sky when it is really ominous and when we are under a tornado watch. The guy on the radio said the storm was heading toward the city - right to where I was heading.
I'm pretty sure I would have become nauseous if I would have seen a funnel coming towards me. Then what would we have done? Would we have stayed in the car? Would we have stumbled into the ditch and clung on to one another? I might have died from fright. That's what I think anyway. I hope I never have to experience being in that situation. I'd much rather just think about it and wonder...
We made it safely to the city, and enjoyed the band concert. When we were ready to come home after the storm had passed - it was a small storm - I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the clouds. I was pretty happy I had taken my camera along too. I was able to snap a few pictures of the clouds after the storm.
It might not look like it on this picture, but these clouds reminded us of mountains.
These clouds appear to touch the highway.
Not nearly as breathtaking as they were to the naked eye; but still impressive clouds!
I thought these clouds, the lower ones, were breathtaking. I wish my camera would have had a better zoom.
I'm grateful that the storm passed over, and that we're home safe and sound. But I'm also grateful to have been able to see the beauty of the clouds after the storm. I'm extremely grateful that the storm really wasn't all that bad. Very grateful!
