And so, Bentley, still being as bound with energy as ever, loved to stick his head down the hole (it is big enough for the dogs to stick their heads down) and look for the elusive kitties. He had watched Lady to see how to look down below for the kittens.Bentley is kind of goofy looking when he bends down, peeking into the darkness of the bottom of the deck. Sometimes he would forget that he shouldn't be looking down the hole. Like this evening for example. He really shouldn't have stuck his head down the hole while he had his favorite ball in his mouth. Obviously he didn't remember that just last week he had dropped a favorite squeaky toy down the same hole.
My Sweetheart was concerned, by looking at Bentley after dropping his ball down there tonight, that maybe he might just be stupid enough to try and wriggle his whole self down the hole. He's skinny enough to think he might fit. So, after trying unsuccessfully to distract Bentley by taking all the dogs for a walk and hoping that he would forget about his ball, My Sweetheart decided he would have to help him out a bit.
I ran down to the basement for my tool kit- a square screwdriver was needed to take the lattice work off the front of the deck, and then my job was complete. I was then able to laugh during the rescue mission as Bentley was peering down the hole while My Sweetheart was suffering through the hoardes of mosquitoes to dismantle the lattice.
Here he is, desperate to retrieve his ball!
Bentley is really, really desperate!
Here My Sweetheart is taking the lattice off, while Bentley is up on top of the deck peering down at his ball!
"This is Stupidness" I heard My Sweetheart saying as the mosquitoes were having a feast! Needless to say, Bentley ran under the deck and retrieved his ball, and is now a very happy 2 year old!!
that is an awesome story...... i totally understated im lazy .... would have bought a mew ball
